The Cloudera Hadoop Reference Configuration is based on Cisco’s Big Data Common Platform Architecture (CPA) for Big Data, a highly scalable architecture designed to meet a variety of scale-out application demands with seamless data management capabilities. The CPA provides the following benefits:
Best-of-breed, integrated big data infrastructure combining enterprise-grade Hadoop software & services with networking solutions
Streamlined big data platform deployment tested by Cisco, certified by Cloudera
Configurable for high performance or high capacity
Simplified management with Cisco UCS Manager & Cloudera Manager
Over the last few months, Cloudera and Cisco teams have been brainstorming and exploring other opportunities of product integration to make it even easier for enterprise customers to deploy the joint solutions.
One area we identified and executed upon was the ability for Cisco UCS Director Express for Big Data to automate provisioning and deployment of an EDH Hadoop cluster on UCS hardware via Cloudera Manager. In addition, the UCS Director Express for Big Data can also provide high level status information on the on-going status of the EDH services (HDFS, HBase, YARN, etc.) by extracting the relevant metrics from Cloudera Manager.
The integration leverages Cloudera Manager API (a simple RESTful API), resulting in a “Zero-Touch” deployment experience for our joint customers.
Today, we’re announcing the general availability of this integration. The continued collaboration with the Cisco UCS team has been great experience and we look forward to more joint product integration capabilities that can ultimately provide value to our customers.
